Glossary

Our repositories, tickets and Slack channels are full of names that mean nothing from the outside — some Finnish, some codenames, some abbreviations nobody expands any more. This page is the decoder.

One line each. Where a name maps to a repository or a page, follow the link rather than expecting the detail here.

Term Means
AJOMARK Alma Mobility Marketplaces — the business unit, the GitHub organisation, and the main Jira project key.
Alma Mobility Marketplaces The same thing in prose. What this site is titled after.
NettiX The marketplace platform and brand family the netti* verticals share. Also the name of the legacy technical estate.
Mobility One / M1 The next-generation platform replacing the NettiX estate. Confluence space MONE, repositories prefixed m1-.
AJO Finnish for drive. Prefixes shared mobility services (ajo-event-relay, ajo-kisu-api) and the ajomark.dev domain.
Vertical Sells Served by
Nettiauto Cars nettix-web
Nettimoto Motorcycles nettix-web
Nettivene Boats nettix-web
Nettikaravaani Caravans nettix-web
Nettikone Heavy machinery nettix-www
Nettivaraosa Vehicle parts nettix-www

Which vertical runs on which codebase is not uniform, and the split moves as verticals are ported from nettix-www to nettix-web. This is the page that owns that mapping — Hostnames repeats it per hostname, and the repository map has the repositories themselves.

Term Means
OmaAjo “My drive” — personal vehicle management for consumers. The repository is my-vehicles. Subdomain oma.
Viestit Finnish for messages. The messaging service, subdomain viestit. The repository is inbox.
NettiXPro The professional/dealer product. Its repositories are the aso-* family, owned by the nettixpro domain team.
ASO The prefix on those repositories. Treat it as “the NettiXPro estate”.
Autotalli Finnish for garage. A separate marketplace with its own Java stack and Jira project (AT).
Baana Finnish (Helsinki slang) for track or lane. Our consumer-to-business (C2B) auction site — Jira project AJOC2B. Autohuuto is the business-to-business one, and is not ours.
TEHO Finnish for power or output. Our customer webstore and self-service purchasing tool, at teho.nettix.fi. The repository is nettix-webstore.
Rekkari Finnish slang for a registration plate. The vehicle information service.
Maksuportaali Finnish for payment portal. Lives in maksuportaali. Not the same as alma-pgw, the escrow service below.
alma-pgw The Alma Payment Gateway — the escrow payment service behind fiksut kaupat. Escrow means a third party holds the funds until the sale completes. Its own organisation.
Fiksut kaupat Finnish for smart sales. Escrow-backed vehicle transactions, settled through alma-pgw.
Hinnoittelu Finnish for pricing. The pricing tool (hinnoittelutyökalu), subdomain hinnoittelu. The repository is pricing-tool.
Hinta-arvio Finnish for price estimate. Price estimation for listings.
Hakuapuri Finnish for search assistant. The semantic search API — maintained in the almamedia organisation as mobility-semantic-search-api.
Kumppanisisällöt Finnish for partner content. Paid article content for advertisers, at nettiauto.com/kumppanisisallot/. The kumppanisisallot-cf-worker Cloudflare Worker serves it from a WordPress site.

Alma Mobility beyond Mobility Marketplaces

Section titled “Alma Mobility beyond Mobility Marketplaces”

We are Mobility Marketplaces. Systems & Insights is the other unit inside Alma Mobility, and Netwheels is theirs. These names turn up in tickets and in the almamedia organisation, so they are worth recognising — but their systems are not ours to document.

Term Means
Netwheels A Systems & Insights business, not ours. Joined Alma Media in 2024. Its products sit on netwheels.fi and are listed publicly at almamobility.fi.
GT-X A Netwheels dealer tool. Named here only because its repository, almamedia/GT-X, turns up when you search the almamedia organisation.
Autohuuto Finnish for car auction. A business-to-business vehicle auction, on the Systems & Insights side. Not the same thing as Baana.
MAJO Alma Media’s internal vehicle-data service. We consume it; we do not own it.
Codename Means
KISU The SageMaker model behind personalised vehicle recommendations, served by ajo-kisu-api.
SPEDE Custom-Built Standardized Protocol for Evaluation, Discrimination, and Engagement — ML-assisted user trust scoring and behavioural analysis.
NERO Neural Engine for Registration Obfuscation — blurs registration plates in listing photos.
Ecto-1 The Slack bot and changelog pipeline that turns a release tag diff into a readable changelog entry. See how CI runs across our repos.
FECS / BECS Frontend and Backend Counter Service — the two halves of counter-service.
Sammio Alma Media’s shared data platform. Mobility feeds into it from the almamedia organisation.
Tankki Finnish for tank. Our data store within Sammio — the Mobility unit’s own. Reporting on it is ajo-tankki-reporting in the almamedia organisation.

Project keys are decoded on Jira and Confluence, which is the page that owns that mapping — including what each key covers and which Confluence space goes with it.

MONE is the one worth knowing here, because it names two things: the Mobility One Jira project, and the Confluence space for people, process and ownership.

When to file in Jira rather than open a GitHub issue, and what each Confluence space holds, is in Jira projects and Confluence spaces.

Term Means
APIv2 The current internal API generation, consumed through m1-api-client.
Atlas The database-as-code tool used in m1-atlas. Not AWS, not Mongo Atlas.
Alma Tunnus Finnish for Alma account. Alma-wide SSO for end users, provided centrally. Unrelated to AWS SSO.
AWS SSO IAM Identity Center, how engineers get into AWS. See Configure AWS SSO for the CLI.
Trafi The Finnish vehicle-data API (the agency is now Traficom, the integration kept the old name).
Scorecard OpenSSF Scorecard, the supply-chain score per repository, published at scorecard.ajomark.dev.
safe-chain Aikido’s supply-chain guard for package installs, applied on CI runners via setup-ci-runner.
Domain team A github-iac grouping of repositories and people — marketplaces, m1-platform, baana, and so on. See the GitHub organisation model.
ADR Architecture Decision Record, kept in the repository it affects. Indexed in the decision index.
Vertical One marketplace brand. Contrast with tenant, which is how a shared codebase serves several verticals.
